Kathleen Knox

Kathleen started dancing at the age of seven with the Elsa Wilkins School of Dance. She studied all theatre dance branches, attaining the Fellowship Teachers’ Certificate through the International Dance Teachers’ Association, together with membership of the Royal Academy of Dancing.

At 18, Kathleen attended the London-based Doreen Bird College of Theatre Dance, from where she embarked on a professional career in theatre and television. In 1985 she took over the Elsa Wilkins School of Dance and many of her pupils have gone on to become professional dancers.

Kathleen now owns and runs the fabulous “Kathleen Knox School of Dance” in Sunderland, teaching various forms of dance to dancers of all ages.

Kathleen has choreographed numerous shows for local operatic societies. She first came to DMTC in 2002 for our inaugural GALA production of “Me and My Girl”. Kathleen returned with several of her pupils for “Guys and Dolls”, “Company“, “Mack & Mabel“, “Hello, Dolly!”, “Grand Hotel“, “42nd Street“, “Some Enchanted Evenings“, “Sunset Boulevard“, “The Best of British Musicals“, “Carousel” and “Kiss Me, Kate“.
