Steven Berry

Steven has been involved in amateur dramatics and musical theatre for nearly 15 years. His first role was in a play at University, and in his final year (2005) he graduated to a lead role as sleazy editor Sidney in the Ben Elton satire ‘Silly Cow’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
After returning to the North East, he joined Bishop Auckland AOS and Bishop Auckland Little Theatre Club, appearing in their productions. He joined DMTC in 2009 and appeared in every production since but has also taken parts with Centre Stage in Sunderland, Ferryhill Stage Society, Northallerton MTC and Chester-le- Street AOS among others.

Notable past roles include Dr Prospero in Return to the Forbidden Planet, Freddy Hill in My Fair Lady, Sir Evelyn in Anything Goes, Bert Healy in Annie, The Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Inspector Andre Thibault in the Northern premiere of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Curly McLain in Oklahoma!, Alberto Beddini in Top Hat, and most recently Captain Bob Wallace in White Christmas. He has most recently played Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady for CAOS Musical Theatre Company’.

For DMTC at GALA he has played Harry in Scrooge, Erik Litnaeur and Charles Darnay in two Northern premieres – Grand Hotel and A Tale of Two Cities, Tobias Ragg in Sweeney Todd, Hysterium in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum and Mr Snow in Carousel as well as being a soloist in two concerts.

Steven works for Durham University, freelance as a videographer, and also sings semi-professionally across the North East.
