Catherine has been singing from a young age, with barbershop taking her to Europe and America. Her quartet took the international silver medal in the Young Women’s Barbershop championships in Texas and she sang close harmony with a 1940’s jazz band during her teens.
Her first involvement in musical theatre was designing the sets and painting scenery for university productions. Her initial contact with DMTC was in 2006 to enquire about set design, but she soon found herself in the chorus for Gigi and by opening night she was hooked!
Since then she has performed principal roles including Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof and Helen in Scrooge. Her tap dancing skills were put to the test as one of our principal chorus girls in 42nd Street.
Having focused more recently on her dancing, Catherine is now enjoying
concentrating on technical singing once again. She is thrilled to be playing the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd.
“It’s been great to have the opportunity to get into some really challenging (and crazy!) music,” she said. “The show has some beautiful duets and quartet numbers. Once again there is a fantastic cast, and it’s brilliant being able to play alongside incredibly talented friends.”
