Andy grew up in Huddersfield, singing with the Huddersfield Choral Society Youth Choir, until moving to the North East in 1997 to complete a Music Degree at Newcastle University.
From 2002 to 2013 Andy worked as Music Teacher, and eventually became Head of Performing Arts at The Academy at Shotton Hall in Peterlee, where he produced and directed a number of successful shows including We Will Rock You, Footloose, Hairspray, and Little Shop of Horrors. Since September 2013 he has been Head of Music at Richmond School in North Yorkshire.
In addition to his teaching, Andy conducts two local choirs, the Tees Valley Youth Choir, and the Northern Spirit Singers, a group he founded in 2000 and are now firmly established as one of the leading choirs in the country, winning the Adult category in the national Choir of the Year competition in 2014.
Andy joined Durham Musical Theatre Company in September 2008 for our production of Fiddler on the Roof and was delighted to have been given the part of Perchik on his DMTC debut.
Since then he has enjoyed tap dancing in 42nd Street and Hello Dolly and being a cocktail waiter in Grand Hotel, playing the Young Ebenezer in Scrooge and Anthony in Sweeney Todd, and last year played the revolutionary “Ernest Defarge” in A Tale of Two Cities.
Andy was delighted to have been cast as Artie in Sunset Boulevard in his final show with the company before moving to London.
