Rachel Porter

Rachel Porter

Rachel was delighted to have been given a role in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ in her first year with DMTC and she really enjoyed being part of the company.

At St Andrews University, Rachel acted in both the Operatic Society and the Musical Theatre Group, where she played the title role in a new musical, ‘Ruth and Boaz’.

Rachel teaches at The Chorister School in Durham and is actively involved in drama, having produced ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’.

She regularly sings solos in church, where she has been involved in several productions. An important part in Rachel’s teaching is encouraging children’s creative abilities. For many years, children and adults have enjoyed the play scripts Rachel has written, which she has performed in school, church and youth groups.

Helping her own children to sing and act, Rachel found she was missing being on stage herself. To combine a love of singing and acting in a company show is such fun and Rachel is looking forward to the challenge of playing Grandma Tzeitel.
