Profile
Katy's first experience of delivering a performance to an audience came at the age of 8 when she took to the stage at The Guildhall in Portsmouth and sang with her school choir. From this moment on Katy new she loved performing.
Katy first appeared with DAOS in 1995 as a child in the production of “Oliver!” and loved the experience. Following this show Katy took part in other DAOS pantomimes such as “Red Riding Hood” and “Babes in The Wood”.
After having a break from performing Katy returned to the bigger stage at the GALA Theatre and performed in the chorus of many shows including: “Me and My Girl”, “What a Swell Party!”, “Peter Pan”, “My Fair Lady”, “Camelot”, “The Secret Garden” and “Guys and Dolls”. She then decided to take the plunge and audition for her first principle role as Kate McGowan in “Titanic”. On being successful in obtaining the role Katy played the pregnant Irish girl (whilst actually being pregnant!).
Katy returned to appear in “Gigi”, “Mack and Mabel” and followed this with some solo singing in our “Noel and Ivor” concert in 2008 singing the songs ‘Primrose’ and ‘The Land of Might Have Been’. "It's rather sad that such lovely songs are dying away, I think the concert has to be my favourite show so far, the contrasts between the songs and how they were portrayed in the show will stay with me forever."
Katy will be playing the part of Mrs. Molloy, a millinery hat shop owner who needs an adventure, "I have had so much fun playing this part at rehearsals and cannot wait to get up on the stage; everyone is hilarious."
