Andy King
Profile
Andy grew up in Huddersfield, singing with the Huddersfield Choral Society Youth Choir, and taking part in a variety of productions with
Kirklees Youth Performing Arts Company, including roles in West Side Story and Hot Mikado, until moving to the North East in 1997 to begin a Music Degree at Newcastle University
As a singer, Andy has had a long association with the
National Youth Choir, joining as a young tenor in 1996, taking part in their 1999 World Tour, and is now Course Administrator for both the Training and Junior Choirs.
In September 2000 he founded and continues to conduct the
Northern Spirit Singers, now firmly established as one of the leading choirs in the North, and national finalists in the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year 2008.
Andy is Director of Performing Arts at Shotton Hall School in Peterlee, and has directed a number of successful shows there, including “
High School Musical” and “
We Will Rock You”.
He joined
DMTC in 2008, taking on the part of “Perchik” in
Fiddler on the Roof and then the role of “Young Ebenezer” in
Scrooge followed by a dancing waiter in
Hello, Dolly!
Andy is thrilled to be involved with such a fantastic company, and is looking forward to playing the role of Jimmy in
Grand Hotel.
